UIseful information on Zakynthos and contacts
including flights and car hire

What about banks, credit cards and cash?
Credit cards are increasingly accepted but cash is still king. The nearest ATM is in Alikes and numerous banks can be found in the town of Zakynthos.

Where are there supermarkets?
The closest shop to the villas is a small mini-market in the Port of Aghios Nikolaos, a 5-10 minute drive from any of the villas. Local meat and vegtables can be found in the village of Volimes, 15 minutes inland, while Katastari, less then half an hour's drive away, offers good supermarkets, chemists and English newspapers.

How do I know which villa would suit me best?
If you are a large group of young people looking for a big house party Tal Hamsa would suit you best. If you are smaller group who prefer the romantic traditional side of Greek holidays then Xyloporta, or if you are fanatical about the sea and like clear open views then Tramontana.

With children in mind, how flexible are occupancy numbers?
All of our villas are equipped with comfortable camp beds that can be erected in some of the larger double rooms to create makeshift “dorms”.

What arrangements are there for cleaning?
We offer maid service 3 times weekly, with linen change once a week and daily pool maintenance.

How well are the houses equipped?
Our villas are well equipped with modern amenities designed to make your holiday as comfortable and relaxing as possible, including plenty of china, glass and good kitchen equipment, dishwashers and washing machines. All the villas have music systems, television and video, books, games and in Tal Hamsa and Tramontana WiFi.

What should I bring with me?
Please bring your own swimming/ beach towels and maybe your own favourite CDs and DVDs.

Who looks after us and what happens if things go wrong?
John or Pauline Dorman are always ready to help out in any way possible for most of the summer. If by any chance they are away, you will be given appropriate contact information.

What is the nightlife like?
There is a good social scene (all ages but mainly teenagers) at the Peligoni Club, again just a five minute drive from the villas and within walking distance of the port of Aghios Nikolaos. Only a 5 - 10 minute drive from all the villas is the swinging art cafe Sophia's - a lively and welcoming bar with a unique atmosphere. For the slightly older and more adventurous there is the beach resort of Alikes a 25 minute drive away, or slightly further afield the infamous resort of Laganas, about an hours drive away.

What about shopping?
There is fun souvenir shopping in the hill top village of Volimes, where you can pick up traditional rugs, pottery and ceramics. For more fashionable shopping the main town of Zakynthos has a wide range of suprisingly sophisticated clothes, jewellry and shoe shops. No one should miss the Zakynthos honey and olive oil sold on the road side.

Can I play tennis?
Yes, there is free access to our private DormanVillas astroturf tennis court, which adjacent to Tal Hamsa but available for use by all our guests (the court is has separate parking and can be used by any of our guests without intruding on those staying in Tal Hamsa).

What about watersports?
Self drive picnic boats can be arranged .
A long sandy beach in Alikes offers water-skiing, windsurfing, pedalos, jet-ski's and doughnut/ banana rides.

What else is there to do?
There are ship wrecks to explore, exciting hillside walks with a profusion of wild flowers in the Spring, secluded spots for lazy picnics, blue caves to snorkel in, boat trips out of Aghios Nikolaos with Actipis Cruises, monasteries and churches to visit, beaches with water sports, local tavernas with too much Mythos and Amstel and of course an abundance of unspoilt coves and bays to explore and enjoy.
